Covid-19 Update

Effective March 20th our doors will be closed to the public. This is to keep our staff and volunteers healthy and safe and so that we can continue to provide care to the animals.
We will still be providing our normal services to the public, and adopting out animals and taking in strays as space allows. We will only be allowing visitors in that have a scheduled appointment to
- Meet an animal if they have an approved adoption application
- Finalize an adoption
- Surrender an animal
- Reclaim a stray
- Turn in a stray
This is to make sure that we are following all of the CDC's recommendations as best as possible.
We will be working today to post all the cats and dogs that are in our care on Petfinder so that they are able to be viewed online. It may take up to 24 hours for Petfinder to show all the animals in our care, so keep checking daily if you are looking for a new pet. Keep in mind that some animals could potentially be on a stray hold or being assessed for medical issues. You can still apply on these animals, but they may not be able to go home right away. If you have questions about a certain animal please give us a call or send our manager an email at If you are interested in adopting and want to see what animals are available for adoption at our shelter please visit this link:…

Now on to our fundraisers:
- Our Canine Egg Hunt that was scheduled for April 11th is canceled
- Pasta for Pets is postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date. Any baskets or other raffle items that were donated will be used for the rescheduled date.
- The Open House Food Stand at Nelson True Value will be canceled
- Princess for an Evening will also be postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date
- Our other events that are scheduled for late May will be put on hold as we stay updated on how COVID-19 progresses.
If you have donations you have been meaning to drop off at the shelter please still bring them by! We will be setting up some sort of outdoor donation box that will keep your donations dry. Staff or volunteers will collect these daily. We can always use pet food, cat litter, and shoes for our Shoe Drive.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, feel free to call the Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter at 608-380-1559. We appreciate your patience during this time and will keep you updated if anything changes in the future. We will be following the recommendations of local health departments, the Wisconsin Department of Health and the CDC.
Finally here is a cute picture of everyone's favorite cat, Dimitri to brighten your day!
