Volunteers are a very important part of our team.

We look forward to potentially matching you with an opportunity that is both helpful and rewarding. All potential volunteers must submit a completed application. You will then be contacted when and if there is an open volunteer position.
Some of the responsibilities all volunteers have are:
  • Able to work in a team environment and support and communicate professionally and politely with fellow volunteers and the public
  • Able to handle redirection and constructive criticism without responding and negativity
  • Able to work with limited supervision
  • Able to be prompt and courteous
  • Able to follow safety protocols
  • Able to represent Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter in a positive way when out in the public.
  • Able to support the Rivers and Bluffs mission.
Due to the size of Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter, we may not be able to accommodate all volunteers. Our volunteers are considered an elite group of individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals. If there is an opening for the position that you are applying for within the hours that you are available, we will contact you. If we cannot put your talents to use at this time, your application will remain on file for 1 year.

Please remember that you are being asked to make a 6-month commitment. You will be required to volunteer at least 2 times per month. If you are unable to commit at this time, please refrain from completing this application. Please apply when you can meet the minimum commitment.

All volunteers go through orientation session(s) lead by the shelter office manager or animal manager. All volunteers also receive a handbook.
